Frequently asked questions
Are the books actually written by humans?
The Mythologis paperback series is researched and edited by Peii Henry and a small team of contributors. AI tooling helps with drafting and consistency checks, but every chapter is reviewed by a human before it ships, and every claim is traced back to a named primary source.
How do I get my book after I buy it?
You'll receive an email from [email protected] within a few minutes of checkout. The email includes a direct download link for your PDF. A few of our newest titles are prepared to order: if yours is one of them, the finished PDF reaches your inbox the same day, usually within a couple of hours.
Can I read the articles for free?
Yes, all 109+ encyclopedia articles on this site are free to read, with no paywall, no signup, and no popups. The books are a paid product because they are designed for long-form reading and reference.
Can I cite a Mythologis article in academic work?
Yes, with the usual caveats. Mythologis is a tertiary source (it summarizes primary texts). Cite us if you're writing an introductory piece. For peer-reviewed work, follow the citation through to the primary text we reference, the translator, edition, and page numbers are listed on every article.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes, 30 days, no questions asked, for digital products. See the Refund Policy for details.
Are the AI-generated images respectful of the traditions depicted?
We use AI illustration tools for cover art and decorative imagery because budget realities require it. We do not use them for ritual objects, contemporary religious symbols, or images that could be mistaken for ethnographic photography. When a tradition is still actively practiced (especially Indigenous, Afro-diasporic, or living Eastern traditions), we err on the side of restraint and use abstract or symbolic art instead.
How can I support the project?
- Buy a book.
- Subscribe to the newsletter (link in the footer).
- Share an article that helped you.
- Tell us when we got something wrong, public corrections improve the site permanently.
Where is Mythologis based?
Mythologis is published by Yavok LLC, a Wyoming, USA company. Operationally the team is distributed across Europe and North America. Customer support is in US Mountain time, see the Contact page for hours.
Will you add [tradition I care about]?
Probably yes. The current roadmap covers every major mythological tradition plus dozens of regional ones. If you want to push something up the queue, email a list of the texts you'd like covered. Specific requests jump the line; "do more African mythology" is harder to act on than "please cover the Mbuti creation cycle."
